What do you do when it feels like the whole world is caving in?

Recently life has been kind of kicking my ass. Just when you think the shit stopped hitting the fan there's another round. This is just life though. We go through rough seasons and then we come out on the other side to a wonderful season. So what do you do when it feels like the whole world is caving in?

It can be super hard to stay positive in tough times. It's so hard not to slip into the dark feelings and lay around all miserable. I think there does come a point where life has handed you so much shit though that you either become "hardened" as some people may call it or you become stronger. At some point, what life throws at you becomes a bit more bearable because you made it through all the other shit and you know that someday it gets better.

Some things I do to stay positive are:

  1. Sticking to a routine, which for me, means going to the gym regularly and doing my skincare routine daily

  2. Meditating and connecting to my spirituality really helps me become grounded and present in the midst of chaos

  3. Creating an attainable goal for myself and remembering that I am doing my best even if that goal is just to get up and go to work/school every day

  4. Take everything step by step and remember that they sometimes have to be baby steps rather than leaps

  5. I also try to think about all of the positive things in my life (either present-day or coming up in the future)

Looking forward, I am so excited to be turning 21 next month and for the fun plans I have laid out! These plans also mean I can do what I love to do and that is: make content:)) I also just started my new journey in podcasting!! My first episode went live earlier this month and it has been so fun to create this new medium of expression for me. You can check out my episode and all future episodes on Youtube at "It Girl Podcast" but also at the home page of this blog, under the "It Girl Podcast" tab. Lastly, I also have super exciting news..... I booked a one-way flight to Europe!!!! Many people think I'm crazy for doing this. Many are scared for me. But what many people just don't understand is the aspect of freedom that I feel in this decision. I have always been super independent, for better or for worse, and so this is something that doesn't scare me too much. It's exciting.

With all of these things to look forward to I try to remain positive in the seasons of trouble. Connecting to my spirituality and sticking to my routine keeps me from completely spiraling. Thinking about the positive things coming up keeps me from diving too deep into the dark feelings and thoughts. It's almost a form of escapism from reality, but it works. Sometimes I think we try to force our lives to become better. We try to fix our lives and do everything possible to make things less shitty. And when things do not go our way we often get even more discouraged. It reminds me of the quote that goes something like "We make plans so that God can laugh". When we try to force ourselves out of these bad seasons by grasping any straw or quick fix, God or the universe (or any higher being) laughs. We cannot control how long the bad seasons last. We have to learn the lesson it is teaching us and then the universe almost "graduates" us to the next stage of our lives. We just have to ride it out. So just know, if you are going through a tough time right now or in the future, there are ways to not feel so shitty. Just remember above all look out for yourself and take care of yourself!
