Release Control to God

Rock bottom is a familiar place. The path down too. Life comes and goes in seasons where some are great and then some feel like you won’t survive. That’s why if you’ve seen rock bottom once, it probably won’t be your last. Life has a way of turning upside down and using lessons to drag us through the mud.

The beauty in this though, is that rock bottom is where we become fortified. You either let rock bottom swallow you whole or you survive and come out stronger. I’ve learned usually my rock bottom hits when I collect a build up of bad breaks. Home trouble, work/financial instability, and heartbreak. Maybe throw in some health issues and an identity crisis for good measure. Don’t forget the friendship breakups, family problems, or mistrust in faith. Last year my rock bottom was a cumulation of family struggles, financial struggles, and heartbreak. All hitting at once, I was feeling exhausted. Then I got a diagnosis I wasn’t expecting. The thing is though, I knew this wouldn’t take me out because i’d been here before.

You see, rock bottom was almost like a distant home. I was familiar with the feelings that came with it and how to navigate my way out. So this year when rock bottom hit again I am very well equipped again to survive. Even better this year than last. The most important lesson rock bottom will teach you is to release control. On the way down you will experience losses that you will scramble to hold tight to so that you won’t fall. Unfortunately no amount of holding tight will keep you from having to release. God won’t allow it. God needs you to hit rock bottom so that you’re in a place so barren you can only call on Him in this season.

So sitting there at rock bottom you get your second lesson on control. You want to fight these changes and figure out how to fix everything going wrong. Stop. No more fighting. Release control to God. He has you in the palm of His hand and He will right all these wrongs. You just have to trust Him again and put Him in first place. That’s why God sent you to rock bottom. That way when you come out of it better, you can give Him all the praise. Let go of the control and let Him do wonders in your life.

I believe the more you hit rock bottom and the better you become at accepting it, the greater Gods calling is for your life. He is fortifying you for the greater plans He has in store.

What a Weird Year.

2025 truly felt like multiple years wrapped up in one. Or as if I lived multiple lives. I don't know if that is a good or bad thing as it definitely had its ups and downs. Every year I reflect and say
