This year is for making mistakes

I'm sure a lot of us have seen the TikTok's about "2024 the plot". And I am here to say that this energy will change your life in 2024. Last year I sort of started unintentionally living for the plot. I decided to book a one way flight to Europe and ended up staying over 4 months because I took everything as it came. This is also how I ended up sort of throwing it out into the universe that I wanted to move to Europe and applied for a job just for fun because it sounded like it would be cool.... then I got said job!?

The thing that truly changed my life was hearing a snippet from a podcast. The two guys who host the podcast were talking about making choices in life. And basically one of them said that they make every decision in their life based on one question:

"Which option would make me a more interesting person?"

When I heard this, it just clicked. I started making my decisions the same way. When thinking about "Should I take this job and move to Europe or stay in LA and try to pursue something here?" I followed myself up with "What will make me a more interesting person?" And that led me to sign the contract and start apartment hunting in Europe.

You see, some day I want to be able to show my kids pictures from this new adventure and talk about how "This was the time mommy moved to Europe in her 20s" just like I'll talk about the time I moved to LA at 18. I'll tell my grandkids the crazy stories of my travels and life in my 20s to inspire them to live a meaningful and full life. People ask me now, how do you do it? You are always taking risks and surprising us with a new big move in your life. The way I see it, our 20s are the time for making mistakes. Now is the time to take those risks, to fall in love and break your own heart, and learn and grow. Now is the time to make your decisions based on what will make you more interesting. Take the job even if you are unsure of what you want to do in life because you can always switch paths!!! And chances are, every job you take you will learn something to carry on with you to the next. Now is the time for trial and error. Now is the time to pack up and move across the world.

Because once we hit our 30s then this time will more or less have passed. At that point we will start to settle down and become tied to another person and have kids. At that point we cannot just up and leave or start a new job so easily. We have the rest of our lives to be settled down and stable. Why not act a little unhinged in our 20s? Go out and have fun. Start jobs and quit them if you don't like it. Move to a new city, or hell even a different country, if you want to expand your conscious!! Just don't waste your time stressing over what ifs or waiting for the perfect timing or staying complacent in relationships that do now spur you forward. You only get to be in your 20s ONCE. One time. That's it. So don't waste it. Go make as many mistakes as possible and then share them fondly in a few decades with your grandkids.
