The Internet has Blessed Me

It amazes me how many of my best friendships have spawned from the internet. If it wasn’t for social media I wouldn’t have a handful of people in my life that I am lucky enough to call true friends of mine.
About a year ago I met my favorite bad influence on facebook of all places. It surely was right place at the right time, divinely orchestrated by the universe. I check facebook about 2-3 times a year. Max. I just happen to check that day and see her post about wanting to find a travel buddy for europe. A few months later we met for the first time in Spain. 6 weeks later we parted ways, forever bonded. 6 months later she visited me in LA where we got into some more trouble together and two months ago I flew to see her in North Carolina. Funny how within a year you can become close to someone who was once a complete stranger on the opposite side of the country.
I gotta say thank you to facebook again because on time 2 out 3 I stumbled across Laura’s post about being in France at the same time as Kennedy and I. Laura and I met in the south of france during kennedy and I’s adventures abroad. We partied, took some horrid shots together, and lounged at the beach after a day of exploring Monaco. I did not expect what would happen next. We kept in touch a few weeks later through snapchat. This led to the past almost year of daily video updates. You know the kind where it’s practically a podcast where your friend updates about every little thing going on? One of the highlights of my day is getting to listen to the update and share my own. Once again, the beauty of the universe's divine timing bringing us together.
On another instance, a little over a year ago, I received an interesting little comment from a girl on a TikTok I had made almost two years ago now. It was a video about what I had packed for my two weeks backpacking Thailand. Little did I know that silly little video would give me a few new friendships. We became internet acquaintances from there and as she grew her following as a travel content creator she began hosting group trips around the world. Last summer as I ended my 6 weeks with Kennedy and started bartending in Finland I decided to hop on the opportunity to join one of the trips. This would lead me to Costa Rica! There I met many inspiring and caring women.
In Costa Rica I also met Maria. Maria and I instantly clicked. You know when energy just doesn’t lie? I knew she had my back and i’d have hers. It’s like we could instantly be comfortable around each other. Like we’d been friends forever. With these kinds of friendships you don’t have to update each other all the time. Just the occasional text to check up on each other and then a facetime here and there to really get caught up as if no time had passed at all. We get it. It’s effortless in its own way. She see's me for who I truly am, and occasionally has to remind me. For that she's like an angel sent to me on this earth. No one has fully understood me like her in a very long time.
All these little divine moments orchestrated by the universe. Or an invisible string. Who knows. All i know is that I am so grateful for these girls. so grateful that the universe brought us together. And I also have social media to thank. Without it I would’ve never met any of them. All supportive in their own ways. We all believe in each other and cheer each other on from wherever we are in the world. We wait for the day that we reunite in person, and know we’d do anything to make it happen. I made this post to let you know i appreciate you and I'm grateful for the impact you’ve had on my life.
