Do you ever get the overwhelming feeling that you want to experience everything in life? Particularly I mean, do you ever get overwhelmed with the choices you have to pursue in your life that you almost wish you could do them all?
This past week I graduated college. Through my three years at Cal Lu, I thought this day would not come fast enough. Then the day came and I almost thought "Holy shit! Where did the time go?" Now I have to start making some choices. I've always wanted to be a Euro Influencer, or a NYC Fashionista, or even an Boston girl. I got to live out my California dreams these past three years. I achieved that. And I am so proud of myself for getting this far. I chased after my dreams and did it!!! I'm sure you all have seen some variation of the quote: "Your younger self would be proud of how far you've come." And this hit deep for me. I always look at my accomplishments in the moment and compared myself to others in the moment. Really I should be looking at my progress over time. I came so far. I finished college. Now what?
Do I move to NYC? Travel the world? Settle down into a job? Try to start my own business? The possibilities are endless. I always end up overwhelmed. I want to do it all!!! I want to be a fashion icon in NYC. I want to be a travel influencer who gets paid to see the world. I want to be a multimillionaire CEO of a crazy cool company. I also sometimes just want to settle down into a cottage and live a quaint little life. Again, the possibilities are endless.
So how do I tackle these dreams? I take them one step at a time. I'm starting by leaving for Europe in about a week and a half. My dreams scare the shit out of me. But if they didn't scare me then they wouldn't be worth it. So I lean into the fear knowing that so much good will come out of it. After I live out my Eurosummer dreams maybe I'll find myself strolling through the streets of New York, surfing in San Diego, riding horses in Montana, or designing clothes in Australia.
No matter what, I always figure it out. And if you feel overwhelmed by the idea of what to do after college, just take the first step and try one of your ideas out. You don't have to stick with it.
Talk to y'all soon... from Europe<3
