21 Years

I've been 21 for almost one week now. And it feels great. I finally feel like I have freedom. I loved getting to celebrate all weekend long, but I must say it also feels good to get back to my normal routine. I still have some celebrating to do this weekend and next month when I go to Vegas! A lot to look forward to, especially with graduation thrown in there.

I feel like my 21st birthday first became important to me at the end of middle school. I remember my friends at the time and I would talk about our plans to go to Vegas together. Oh how times have changed... Now I'll be going with an entirely different crowd. Part of me (the nostalgic part) kind of still wants to organize that trip. Just for good 'ole times sake. After those middle school friendships fizzled out a bit, I would start planning with high school friends. We also mentioned Vegas and I always thought maybe some of them would fly out to celebrate with me here in California. Life never goes as expected though. Doors close. And life goes on.

Instead I celebrated my birthday with bottomless mimosas in the morning, my first Total Wine run, and then dinner at Nobu and the bar called The Bungalow in Santa Monica at night. I also went to dinner at Casa Vega with family and will be celebrating this weekend at TAO with some college friends. Overall, it was a wonderful birthday. I honestly was super happy with it. I think the rest of my 20s will also contain some really great birthday and more fabulous cocktails.

Cheers to 21 years!
